Building A Winner, And The Common Good – July 24th, 2013 8:23 am

A few weeks ago, IgniteTV spent some time filming the Men’s National Volleyball team in Mississauga, ON preparing for exhibition play against Korea.  During one of the interviews I asked veteran libero Dan Lewis about the struggling program, wondering if putting the sport back in the consciousness of Canadians across this country was simply a matter of building “a winner”.  Dan’s answer was remarkable.  Rather, remarkably simple.

It’s another feather in a cap that is emblazoned with the words “we’ve made things too complicated.”  It’s also another straw in the hat that reads, “you can build no winner without first seeking the common good.”

Dan’s the man.  Now excuse me while I log off Facebook and go partake in some road hockey with my kiddies.
